Growth Vessel (2021)

The vessels, analogues to their formation from water simulation, have a sense of being grow, arriving at their final shape over time. The living essence of the vessel is reflected in the form’s symmetry and repetition, comparably mimicking the complexity of natural structures such as flowers.

Inspired by transitioning states in nature, the work uses water simulation software as well as an understanding of fluid dynamics, to alter parameters to give unlimited variation to the forms produced and so vessels that can be created.

These digital vessels manifest into physical medium via 3D printing in a castable resin, which is then translated into brass through lost investment casting to give their final materiality.
